80 years old today…

English actor William Gaunt was born in Pudsey, West Yorkshire this day in 1937.  Educated in Texas and then at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), he spent his early acting career in repertory theatre.  After minor roles in Z-Cars and The Avengers, he was given the role of Richard Barrett in the 1968 espionage/science fiction series The Champions, alongside Stuart Damon and Alexandra Bastedo.  In the 80s, he played Arthur Crabtree in family sitcom No Place Like Home.  He had guest appearances in Juliet Bravo and Doctor Who, and then returned to sitcom in Next Of Kin.
