Event-03-31-19901990: London saw its worst riots for a century this day in 1990.  Violence broke out as up to 70,000 protesters took to the city’s streets for an anti-poll tax rally [BBC News].  113 people were injured and 340 people were arrested.  The march had been peaceful until just after 4pm when police attempted to move protesters staging a sit-in at Whitehall.
