1988: Roger Taylor’s band, The Cross, released the single ‘Heaven For Everyone‘ [Queen Official YouTube Channel], from their debut album ‘Shove It‘. The video features footage from George Melies’ 1902 silent movie, ‘Trip To The Moon‘. Taylor’s Queen band mate, Freddie Mercury, was guest vocalist on the song. There were two versions recorded: one with Mercury as lead vocalist, which featured on the UK album release, and while the single version had Taylor’s lead vocals. It was reworked for the 1995 Queen album ‘Made In Heaven‘, and did not use Taylor’s spoken introduction. The Cross’s version only reached No 84 in the UK charts whereas the Queen version peaked at No 2.
